
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that over 3,000 police officers are on standby to serve as special electoral boards (SEBs) for the upcoming 2025 elections.
This was revealed by Director for Police Community Relations, Police Maj. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba, during Saturday’s News Forum. Alba stated that the PNP is prepared to deploy these trained personnel “should our Comelec (Commission on Elections) ask assistance from the PNP.” He added that comprehensive security plans are also in place.
PNP Public Information Office chief, Police Col. Randulf Tuaño, reported that as of May 5, 37 election hotspots had been identified, with 35 located in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). These hotspots will receive heightened security measures.
Election day is scheduled for Monday, May 12.
Polling precincts will open at 5:00 a.m. to accommodate senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant registered voters, who will have priority voting until 7:00 a.m.
Regular voting hours will run from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The PNP’s readiness to provide additional support underscores the commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly election process.
