THE Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy over 140,000 personnel nationwide to secure the May 12, 2025 elections, the agency announced on Friday.
“We will be deploying a substantial number of PNP personnel during Election Day,” said PNP Director for Police Community Relations, Police Major General Roderick Augustus Alba, during a press conference.
“We have a considerable number of more than 140,000 personnel who will secure 37,528 voting centers across the country,” he added.
Over 7,000 PNP personnel have been trained as backup poll workers for the midterm elections, with 3,774 deployed to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Alba stated that the PNP is monitoring potential election disruptors, including intense political rivalries and gangs.
A total of 63 activities linked to political rivalries have been monitored in BARMM, Metro Manila, and Calabarzon, according to Alba.
Meanwhile, gang activities have been reported in Central Luzon, Central Visayas, BARMM, and Zamboanga Peninsula.
The Election Day is set for May 12, 2025.
