Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas

admin February 20, 2025

We run towards the flames while others run.

— Firefighters’ Motto

FIFTEEN party-list groups lead in the January poll conducted by OCTA Research, but most of them are incumbents, who have received the support of at least two percent of the survey respondents.

Still leading the list is ACT-CIS with the support of 6.46 percent of the respondents, followed by 4PS (5.62 percent), Duterte Youth (3.95 percent), FPJ Panday Bayanihan (3.84 percent), Tingog (3.63 percent), Uswag Ilonggo (3.49 percent), Galing sa Puso or GP (3.43 percent), Ako Bicol (2.9 percent), Abang Lingkod (2.38 percent), 4K (2.34 percent), Senior Citizens (2.27 percent), AGAP (2.27 percent), Agimat (2.25 percent) Malasakit@Bayanihan (2.17 percent) and PPP (two percent).

A total of 155 party-list organizations are running in this year’s upcoming midterm elections scheduled on May 12. Under the law, party-lists that secure at least two percent of support from voters are guaranteed at least a seat in Congress.

According to OCTA, aside from the top 15 they have listed to be ahead, 15 other party-lists still have a chance to recoup and gain the nod of voters to secure seats based on the survey results.

These include Abamin, 1-Rider, Buhay, TGP, Gabriela, Batang Quiapo, Solid North, Angat, Tupad, ABP, ACT-Teachers, Ahon Mahirap, Lunas, Kabataan and Ang Tinig ng Seniors. Here we see ABP, or Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas at 25th spot. So, let us focus on Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas, which is led by its president Jose Antonio ‘Ka Pep’ Goitia and the group’s first nominee.

Goitia has simple ambitions for aiming to become a voice in the House of Representatives—to ensure that the rights and benefits deserved by our country’s firefighters and rescuers, especially the volunteers, are legislated and implemented for their welfare and their families’ as well.

Everybody knows the important role played by our volunteer firefighters and rescuers in keeping our communities safe during times of need. They do not only respond to devastating fires to save lives and property but are also quick to act on emergency situations when rescue operations must be conducted.

Recognizing this important role they contribute to the public, Goitia is keen on protecting our fire protectors by securing their well-being with the legislation of meaningful laws ang measure that would institutionalize the social security needed by our firefighting and rescue sector.

Nothing less is appropriate as firefighters and rescuers at all times place their lives on the line in order to perform their duties and responsibilities to the public.
