RECOGNIZING her active role upholding human rights, the Sunfull Foundation of Korea has chosen OFW Party List Representative Marisa ‘Del Mar’ Magsino as its Ambassador and Chairperson of the Philippine House of Representatives Sunfull Committee.
She was also recently appointed as co-chairperson of the foundation’s K Respect Campaign.
Magsino went to South Korea last month and met with the Sunfull Foundation to discuss efforts being taken by the OFW Party List to further their shared commitment to counter cyberbullying, hate speech, and human rights violation online. She also attended the Philippine Independence Day organized by the Philippine Embassy.
Magsino said she was honored to be chosen by Sunfull Foundation as their partner in ensuring positivity by combatting the negative effects in using the internet, as well as in strengthening initiatives on the promotion of the welfare of migrant workers, ethnic minority groups, and multicultural families in South Korea.
Sunfull Foundation is a non-governmental organization in South Korea founded by Dr. Byoung-chul Min in 2007.
“It is really an honor for me to be part of this movement and working with thousands of people, not only in Korea, but in other countries, too, to send messages of hope and encouragement. This is especially important to victims of cyberbullying, hate speech, and negative internet use, ” Magsino said.
Magsino was accompanied during her visit by Ms. Princess Adriano, Secretary General of OFW Party List, who has likewise been appointed as the Ambassador for Social Media for the Sunfull Peace Movement – K Respect.
The party list lawmaker added that overseas Filipino workers also have narratives of discrimination and abuse while living and working abroad. They not only have to deal with the difficulty of being far from their families, but also the difficulty of integrating in societies, which are at times intolerant and prejudiced.
“Our OFWs deserve dignity and respect. Let us honor them by promoting a culture of kindness and inclusivity, both online and offline, and whether in the Philippines or in their host countries,’ said Magsino.
She also noted that Filipinos are very positive and happy people and she wants to spread such Filipino spirits worldwide.
“It is my wish to see hope, encouragement and love spreading in our communities and brimming over to our entire society. May we all work together to achieve that,” Magsino said.
