Marcos to OFWs in Brunei: P1.26T investments in PH can create more jobs for Pinoys

admin May 29, 2024

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reported to Filipinos in Brunei Darussalam that jobs are being created in the Philippines by investments reaching PhP1.26 trillion in 2023.

President Marcos said his administration is intensifying efforts to attract more investments for the country to provide employment opportunities for Filipinos.

“So that working abroad will become only a career choice and not the only option” for the hardworking Pinoys, the Chief Executive said in his speech during his visit to the Filipino community in Brunei Darussalam.

He said the PhP1.26 trillion in investments surpassed the initial optimism of the government when it set a PhP1.151-trillion target.

“To far exceed this mark, by reaching PHP 1.26 trillion, is a clear testament to the growing confidence of investors in fostering their businesses’ growth within the Philippines. Upon full operations, the projects are expected to produce 49,030 jobs for Filipinos,” President Marcos said.

“Alam po natin na kapag masigla ang ekonomiya, maayos ang kabuhayan. Things are looking up for the economy. Bukod sa mga remittances na nanggaling sa inyo, sa ating mga OFW, I also encourage all of you to someday return, and invest, and set up your own business at home in the Philippines,” he added.

President Marcos visited the Filipino community in Brunei as part of his two-day state visit to Brunei Darussalam where he honored their contribution to the Philippine economy by being tourism ambassadors of the country.

President Marcos is embarking on a two-day state visit to Brunei Darussalam to strengthen the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Brunei, which span over 40 years since it was formalized on January 1, 1984.
