THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Monday a reduction in the security alert level for Filipinos in Israel from Level 3 (Voluntary Repatriation) to Level 2 (Restriction Phase).
The downgrade reflects the easing of the recent conflict between Israel and Iran, following a ceasefire agreement reached last week.
The DFA statement cited positive developments in Israel’s security situation as the basis for the change, effective immediately.
The Philippines, home to a significant Filipino diaspora in the Middle East—including approximately 30,000 caregivers in Israel and over 1,100 in Iran—had previously expressed its support for the ceasefire while urging continued dialogue for a lasting peace.
The government expressed hope that the temporary cessation of hostilities would serve as a crucial step towards achieving lasting peace in the region.
While lowering the alert level, the DFA emphasized its commitment to closely monitoring the situation in the region and will adjust alert levels as needed.
The change from Level 3 to Level 2 indicates a less urgent need for repatriation, but Filipinos in Israel are still advised to exercise caution and remain aware of their surroundings.
