THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) are extending immediate assistance to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who have been stranded en route to the Middle East due to the escalating tensions in the region.
The agencies are working to ensure the safety and well-being of affected OFWs and provide them with the necessary support.
On Monday, March 2, 2026, a group of 57 Abu Dhabi-bound OFWs who were stranded at Hong Kong International Airport safely returned to Manila.
Upon arrival, they received immediate assistance from teams from both the DMW and OWWA, who were on hand to provide support and guidance.
Prior to their return to the Philippines, the stranded OFWs were assisted by the Migrant Workers Office in Hong Kong, which provided them with food and other essential necessities while they were at the airport.
OWWA is also providing temporary housing and transportation assistance to some of the returning OFWs to help them get back on their feet. The DMW and OWWA are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant agencies to provide continued support to OFWs affected by the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
