THE Department of Justice is now investigating the escape of ousted Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo from the country.
DOJ spokesman Atty. Mico Clavano assured that the department will hold accountable anyone responsible for facilitating the departure of the controversial former mayor.
He emphasized that this is not a simple matter that can be easily dismissed.
“This is a case of national significance. Thus if it is indeed true that Alice Guo has left the country, a thorough investigation is needed to hold those responsible accountable. This is not a light matter,” Clavano said.
In June, Guo was placed under an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO), directing all immigration officers to alert authorities should Guo attempt to leave the country.
Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission spokesperson Dr. Winston Casio confirmed that Guo has indeed left the Philippines and visited three countries in Southeast Asia, with the latest being Indonesia.
“Confirmed that Alice Leal Guo is out of the country based on our foreign counterparts’ immigration records,” Casio stated.
Guo arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 18 from Denpasar, Indonesia via Batik Air 177. She then traveled to Singapore from Kuala Lumpur via Jetstar Asia 686 on July 21 and reached Batham, Indonesia from Singapore on August 18 by ferry boat.
