THE National Capital Region Police Office Regional Director, PMGEN JONNEL C ESTOMO said the New Year celebration throughout the Metro Manila was “generally peaceful” as the whole region recorded zero major incidents.
NCRPO Chief said there was no reported major firecracker-related incident, including any injury from stray bullets, indiscriminate firing, or firecracker-related conflagration.
PMGEN Estomo attributed this achievement to the intensified implementation of “Ligtas Paskuhan 2022″ through the S.A.F.E. NCRPO Program which minimized the crimes and incidents during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
“The metro wide celebration of December 31 New Year’s Eve revelry was resoundingly safe and peaceful,” said PMGEN Estomo.
“These positive developments could be attributed to our early preparations and consistent implementation of various measures,” he added.
The ban on the use and sale of firecrackers and pyrotechnics also contributed greatly to the campaign, Metro Top Cop said.
Police apprehended 7 violators of the firecracker ban, 2 violators in illegal discharge of firearms, and confiscated firecrackers worth Php1,208,710.00 in the entire region.
PMGEN Estomo also acknowledged the support and cooperation of the public in the realization of peaceful and injury-free New Year celebration.
Meanwhile, NCRPO Chief said that no one among the policemen of NCRPO was found to have fired their service firearms during the New Year’s revelry.
