GRACE Nancy Dela Rosa, wife of Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, has made a heartfelt appeal to the Philippine judiciary, urging courts and legal bodies to firmly reject any move that would lead to her husband’s surrender or transfer to an international court.
She emphasized that such a step would undermine the country’s legal sovereignty and disregard the integrity of the Philippine justice system, which she maintains is fully capable of addressing any issues or complaints raised against the senator.
In her statement, Grace argued that her husband should be made to answer only before Philippine authorities and within local courts, where due process and his constitutional rights can be fully guaranteed.
She expressed deep concern that subjecting him to proceedings outside the country would be unjust, politically motivated, and a direct violation of national laws and principles. She also reiterated her family’s firm stance that Senator Dela Rosa is not evading accountability and remains ready to face any legal challenges within the country’s jurisdiction.
She called upon judges, legal officials, and the broader legal community to protect the nation’s independence and uphold the rule of law as defined by the Philippine Constitution. Grace stressed that the priority should be to allow fair and transparent proceedings locally, rather than yielding to external pressures or requests. Her appeal comes amid ongoing discussions regarding the senator’s legal status and the possibility of international involvement in the cases filed against him.
