VICE President Sara Duterte has formally posted bail in connection with the three counts of grave threats filed against her before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.
The development follows her personal appearance at the Quezon City Hall of Justice on Saturday morning, September 5, where she submitted herself to the court’s jurisdiction just one day after an arrest warrant was issued against her on Friday.
Duterte arrived at the court shortly before 11:00 a.m. to answer the charges, voluntarily appearing before the judge to address the warrant issued by Branch 98. Her presence effectively rendered the arrest order unnecessary for immediate enforcement, as she complied with the court’s process by surrendering herself and posting the required bail amount in exchange for her provisional liberty while the trial is pending.
With bail now posted, the vice president remains free to continue discharging her official duties as the case moves forward. The court will proceed with the arraignment and subsequent trial proceedings, where Duterte will be given the opportunity to enter a plea and respond to the accusations filed against her.
