ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio on Sunday accused Vice President Sara Duterte of “living in her world” as he criticized her response to questions surrounding the use of her confidential funds.
“Talagang nabubuhay sa sariling mundo ng guni-guni itong si VP Sara Duterte,” Tinio said in a statement.
The Makabayan bloc lawmaker said Duterte appeared to have forgotten her earlier refusal to respond to questions about her office’s budget.
“Nakalimutan na ba niya yung paulit-ulit na pagtanggi niyang sumagot ng anumang tanong tungkol sa kanyang budget: ‘I would like to forgo the opportunity to defend the budget in a question-and-answer format.’ Yan pala ang ibig sabihin ng transparency sa kanyang mundo,” Tinio said.
Tinio also dismissed Duterte’s claim that the issue surrounding her confidential funds was politically motivated.
“Taktikang pusit na naman ang kanyang linya na ‘politika’ lamang ang nasa likod ng pagsiwalat ng Makabayan bloc sa isyu ng kanyang Confidential Funds,” he said.
He insisted that questions remain over the use of the funds, particularly the alleged rapid spending of P125 million.
“Talagang may sabit siya. “They cannot spend P125 million in 11 days,” Tinio stated.
The ACT Teachers representative said the Makabayan bloc remains determined to pursue accountability over the issue.
