TARLAC Representative Noel Rivera’s compound and house were searched by authorities armed with search warrants on Friday, but the operation yielded no illegal firearms.
According to reports, members of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) and Armed Forces of the Philippines Intelligence Service executed the search warrants at Rivera’s properties, including the 3G Construction and Development Corporation, which he reportedly owns, and his house, which features a small golf course and a multi-purpose hall.
Rivera is one of the eight congressmen currently under investigation by the Ombudsman for possible plunder and bribery in connection with billions of pesos worth of infrastructure projects from 2016 to 2024. The 3G Construction and Development Corporation is also among the companies being linked to anomalous flood control projects by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure.
“They did not find any gun based on the search warrant,” Rivera said, adding that his camp plans to question the serving of the search warrant at the right time. He acknowledged the ongoing investigations by the ICI and the Ombudsman, stating, “It’s in the ICI, the Ombudsman, we will face it there.” When asked if he and his wife own 3G Construction, he replied, “That was a long time ago.”
The search of Rivera’s properties, which lasted from 5 a.m. to 12 noon, drew a gathering of his supporters outside his house.
