HOUSE Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III has issued a strong warning to anyone who might consider aiding or abetting individuals implicated in the flood control anomalies, following the move by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to bring the matter before the Office of the Ombudsman.
Speaker Dy emphasized that the House of Representatives respects the actions taken by the ICI and DPWH, and he reiterated the commitment to allowing the ICI to fulfill its mandate without interference. He noted that the House had refrained from conducting a similar investigation to avoid impeding the ICI’s progress.
Echoing President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s sentiments, Speaker Dy stressed that any potential case should be based on comprehensive evidence, and the Ombudsman should act accordingly. He affirmed that accountability must be rooted in solid evidence.
Furthermore, Speaker Dy supported the President’s call for all those involved, including Mr. Zaldy Co, who remains at large, to cooperate and surrender. He issued a stern reminder that anyone found harboring or obstructing the legal process will be held accountable under the law. “Paalala rin na may pananagutan sa batas ang sinumang nagkukubli o humahadlang sa pag-usad ng mga hakbang na ito (It is also a reminder that anyone who conceals or obstructs the progress of these steps will be held accountable under the law),” Dy stated.
Speaker Dy reaffirmed his commitment to respecting due process and supporting institutions tasked with uncovering the truth. He asserted that those responsible must be held accountable to ensure justice for the Filipino people.
