Speaker Dy: Eid’l Fitr a call for unity, compassion amid global challenges

admin March 21, 2026

SPEAKER Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III extended his felicitations to the Muslim community on Saturday as they celebrate Eid’l Fitr, emphasizing the occasion’s core values of sacrifice, compassion, and unity.

He urged all Filipinos to embrace these principles as the nation navigates a complex landscape of global and economic challenges.

“As our Muslim brothers and sisters celebrate Eid’l Fitr, we honor a journey of faith marked by discipline, sacrifice and generosity—values that can guide us as we face the challenges ahead, and work to overcome these as one nation,” the Speaker stated. Eid’l Fitr, also known as the “Feast of Breaking the Fast,” signifies the conclusion of Ramadan’s month-long fasting period and represents spiritual renewal, gratitude, and a strengthening of community bonds.

Speaker Dy highlighted that the observance of Eid emphasizes the value of reflection, humility, and solidarity.

These virtues, he noted, are crucial for fortifying both communities and public institutions. He further elaborated on the traditions associated with Eid, including special prayers, charitable giving, and the reinforcement of family and community ties. “These traditions remind us of our duty to care for others, especially the most vulnerable, and to build stronger, more compassionate communities,” he added.

In his message, delivered partly in Filipino, Speaker Dy invoked the spirit of Eid to encourage the continued practice of empathy and unity among Filipinos.

“Sa diwa ng Eid, nawa’y patuloy nating isabuhay ang malasakit sa kapwa at pagkakaisa bilang isang bansa sa gitna ng mga hamon sa buong mundo.”

He stressed that these shared values are particularly vital as the Philippines confronts economic pressures, geopolitical tensions, and threats to food and energy security.

The Speaker concluded by expressing his hope that the celebration would inspire the nation toward building a more inclusive, resilient, and united Philippines, offering hope and opportunity for every Filipino.
