THE Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) has implicated Alvin Que, 42, son of slain businessman Anson Que (also known as Anson Tan), in the kidnapping and murder of his father and the latter’s driver.

According to a report by Saleema Refran on GMA News’ “24 Oras,” Alvin Que, also known as Ronxian Gou, is among six individuals recommended for preliminary investigation by the PNP-AKG at the Department of Justice (DOJ) on April 19th. The investigation revealed a complex scenario involving alleged insider participation in the crime.

The police investigation suggests that Alvin Que acted as a negotiator for his family while his father was held captive.

He allegedly paid an initial ransom of ₱10 million to a cryptocurrency account on March 31st, followed by an additional ₱3 million to the same account on April 2nd. Despite the substantial ransom payments—initially reported to be ₱100 million—both Anson Que and his driver were found dead on the side of a road in Rodriguez, Rizal on April 9th.

The involvement of Alvin Que adds a shocking twist to the case, raising questions about the motivations behind the crime and the extent of his alleged participation.

The preliminary investigation at the DOJ will be crucial in determining the culpability of all the suspects and shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping and murder. The case highlights the complexities of high-profile kidnapping cases and the potential for betrayal within families.
