Senate to impose 3-week lockdown starting Aug 15

admin August 11, 2022

THE Senate will impose a three-week lockdown starting Aug. 15 amid its rising cases of Covid-19.

Senate President Migz Zubiri said  the lockdown will be implemented for the guests, which means no guests will be allowed during the period, except for resource persons of committee hearings.

Resource persons will only be limited to three per agency while the remaining can join meetings or sessions remotely. Those joining in person must present a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test result taken within 24 hours or a negative antigen test taken within 12 hours.

Self-administered antigen test results without any valid certification shall not be accepted.

For committee hearings, each senator may be assisted by a maximum of two members of his or her staff, except for the chairperson of the committee.

For session duties at the plenary hall, only two staff shall be allowed per senator.

The move came after three senators tested positive for Covid-19 in just a week. The senators were Alan Peter Cayetano, Imee Marcos, and Cynthia Villar.
