Sen Kiko urges Sen Ping to reconsider Blue Ribbon committee resignation

admin October 6, 2025

SENATOR Kiko Pangilinan has appealed to Senator Ping Lacson to reconsider his decision to resign as Chair of the Blue Ribbon Committee, emphasizing the need for stability and accountability amidst the current political crisis.

Pangilinan expressed hope that Lacson would remain in his position, stating that “I hope Senator Ping will reconsider his decision to resign as Chairman of the Blue Ribbon Committee.” He noted that while some members of the majority bloc had disagreed with Lacson’s earlier public pronouncements, the matter had been discussed and clarified during a majority caucus on October 1. Pangilinan added that no one in the majority bloc had sought Lacson’s replacement as Blue Ribbon Committee Chairman.

“I appeal to Senator Ping to stay on as Blue Ribbon Committee Chairman and appeal as well to our colleagues in the majority bloc to reaffirm our support for him to stay on even as we iron out our differences,” Pangilinan said. While acknowledging Lacson’s sensitivity to the sentiments of his colleagues, Pangilinan expressed optimism that renewed support from the majority bloc could convince him to stay.

Pangilinan concluded by highlighting the importance of strong institutions in the face of the ongoing political crisis. “Now more than ever, amidst the political crisis facing the nation, our people are looking for stability and certainty in the state of our affairs and looking to the strength of our institutions to withstand the ongoing crisis and resolve it in favor of truth, transparency and public accountability,” he stated.
