SENATOR Jinggoy Estrada filed a perjury case against former Bulacan assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on [Date – based on context, assuming it’s soon after previous articles]. The case stems from allegations made by Hernandez linking the senator to anomalous infrastructure projects.
Estrada arrived at the prosecutor’s office at 9:15 AM.
The move follows Hernandez’s accusations during a House hearing on September 8, where he alleged that Estrada inserted P355 million worth of flood control projects into the 2025 national budget and supposedly received a 30% kickback from these projects.
The senator has denied the accusations, calling them “fabricated and made-up.” He previously challenged Hernandez to undergo a lie-detector test to determine who is telling the truth.
Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) previously dismissed Construction Section Chief Jaypee Mendoza and Accountant Juanito Mendoza of the Bulacan first engineering district office for disloyalty, grave misconduct, gross neglect of duty, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon stated that the dismissal carries penalties of perpetual disqualification from public office, forfeiture of retirement benefits, and cancellation of civil service eligibility, adding that the action is “without prejudice” to possible civil or criminal cases.
