HOUSE of Representatives Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs Chairperson and KABAYAN Partylist Representative Ron P. Salo expressed his deep sadness on the tragic loss of Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Angelyn Aguirre, who valiantly lost her life during the assault by Hamas in Israel.
Her remains arrived at the NInoy Aquino International Airport this afternoon.
“OFW Angelyn Aguirre, a dedicated caregiver, displayed extraordinary heroism, concern, and unwavering dedication to her duty. Despite the perilous circumstances and the risk to her own life, she courageously stayed by the side of her patients, exemplifying the true spirit of a hero,” Salo said.
“Her selfless act of bravery in the face of danger showcases the remarkable strength and resilience of our overseas workers, making her a shining example of heroism for all Filipinos,” Salo added.
Rep. Salo, who also hails from the same municipality of Binmaley, Pangasinan as Aguirre, welcomed her remains together with Aguirre’s family. Also present were Dapartment of Migrant Workers OIC Undersecretary Hans Cacdac, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Head Arnell Ignacio and representatives from Israel Embassy in the Philippines. She will be given a Hero’s Welcome in Binmaley upon arrival.
“Angelyn Aguirre’s sacrifice as an OFW highlights the immense challenges faced by our modern-day heroes as they strive to provide a better life for their families back home. Her unwavering commitment to her responsibilities in a foreign land serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by countless Filipinos working abroad to support their loved ones,” Salo remarked.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of Angelyn Aguirre during this incredibly difficult time,” Salo concluded.
