MAMAMAYANG Liberal Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima on Thursday said the Senate must explain how Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa was able to leave despite being placed under so-called protective custody.
“Ang protective custody ay hindi para pagtakpan o patakasin ang aarestuhin. Malinaw: may mga duwag at kasabwat ng duwag sa pananagutan,” De Lima, a member of the House prosecution panel, said.
The statement came after Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano confirmed that Dela Rosa was no longer inside the Senate building.
Dela Rosa, former Philippine National Police chief under the Duterte administration, is facing accountability questions before the International Criminal Court over the bloody drug war.
