OMBUDSMAN Samuel “Boying” Remulla announced that his office will formally file plunder charges against Senator Rodante Marcoleta within the week.
The decision comes after the Ombudsman completed its preliminary investigation and found sufficient basis to pursue the case before the Sandiganbayan. Remulla stated that the evidence gathered points to alleged irregularities involving public funds, which meet the legal threshold for plunder as defined under Philippine law.
Remulla confirmed that the investigation focused on transactions and projects linked to the senator during his previous terms in public office. He clarified that the case is based on documents, sworn statements, and financial records submitted to the office, and that the process followed due procedure to ensure fairness and accuracy.
