PHILIPPINE National Police Chief, Police General Dionardo Carlos has directed the Police Regional Office 12 to mobilize police tracker teams to mount pursuit operations for suspects in the shooting of a former radio commentator and candidate for councilor who was gunned down in Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat, 10 a.m. of January 13.
The victim identified as Jaynard Angeles, 35, was inspecting his van’s engine when two men approached him and shot him multiple times. He died on the scene. The gunmen fled by using a motorcycle.
“This happened several days after the start of the election period. We will determine if this has something to do with his intention to run in politics,” Carlos said.
This is notwithstanding the possibility that it may also be job-related since the victim is described by his listeners as a hard-hitting commentator.
More pieces of evidence are being gathered including possible CCTV footages that may have captured the incident.
“There might be some witnesses as well since this transpired in broad daylight,” Carlos added.
Angeles held various positions in some radio stations including as former manager of Radyo Bandera Tacurong and Radyo ni Juan Tacurong.
He resigned from the broadcast industry to run for public office.
