THE National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) announced on Thursday that it has imposed a 90-day preventive suspension on Police Brigadier General Romeo Macapaz, the current Police Regional Office 12 (PRO12) director and former chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
NAPOLCOM vice chairperson and executive officer Commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan stated that the suspension is due to allegations of grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer. The decision comes after a motion for preventive suspension was filed by complainant Elakim T. Patidongan. The suspension takes effect immediately upon Macapaz’s receipt of the resolution.
Macapaz has yet to receive a statement. PRO12 spokesperson Police Major Rissa Hernaez stated that Macapaz is currently on leave and not within the area of responsibility, but she will attempt to contact him. The complaint against Macapaz was filed on August 14 by brothers Julie “Dondon” and Elakim Patidongan, who have been linked to the case of the missing sabungeros.
