THE Philippine National Police announced on Monday a substantial decrease in eight focus crimes during the period of January to June this year.
Based on the latest data provided by the PNP’s Crime Information Reporting and Analysis System (CIRAS), the total number of focus crimes from January to June dropped significantly from 20,657 cases in 2022 to only 18,560 cases in 2023, marking a decrease of 2,097 cases or 10.15%.
Additionally, the average Focus Crimes Monthly Crime Rate has declined by 10.13%, dropping from 3.06 in 2022 to 2.75 in 2023.
Notably, murder has decreased by 1.89%, physical injury by 20.01%, theft by 9.33%, and rape by 18.19%. Although there was a slight increase in homicide and robbery, significant reductions were observed in carnapping cases.
