PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief General Nicolas Torre has been relieved from his position, effective immediately.
The announcement was made earlier today by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), citing the need for new leadership to address pressing issues within the police force.
While the DILG statement did not specify the exact reasons for General Torre’s removal, sources suggest that concerns over rising crime rates and allegations of police misconduct may have contributed to the decision.
An acting PNP Chief will be named shortly, and the search for a permanent replacement is already underway. The change in leadership comes at a critical time, as the PNP faces ongoing challenges in maintaining peace and order across the country.
