PHILIPPINE National Police chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr. sued a vlogger who attributed to him a supposed destabilization plot against President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.
Acorda revealed on Monday, January 8 that he filed a case against Johnny Lacsamana Macanas, a vlogger, who used Acorda’s name and face in reporting that he withdrew support from Marcos Jr. alongside AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner.
“It hurts me that there are people na gusto lang maging sikat yung kanilang vlog ay gagawa ng mga disinformation,” Acorda added.
PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said Acorda went to the Prosecutor’s Office in Quezon City at 12:30 p.m. to file the complaint against Macanas Sr.
The complaint was for violating Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code or the Unlawful Means of Publication as amended by Republic Act No. 10951 in relation to Section 6 of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
“Ang sinampa po nating kaso ay dahil sa pagpapakalat po ng hindi totoong information na ang ating Chief PNP ay nag-withdraw na po ng support sa ating President at hinihikayat ang ating Presidente na mag-resign,” Fajardo said in a press briefing.
