PH logs 3,792 new Covid-19 infections

THE Health department on Saturday recorded 3,792 new COVID-19 infections increasing the nationwide tally to 3,634,368.

In its latest bulletin, the Department of Health said of 84,229 active infections, 3,016 were asymptomatic, 76,487 were mild, 2,971 were moderate, 1,443 were severe, and 312 were in critical condition.

It said of the 3,792 reported cases on Saturday, 3,625 or 96% occurred within the last 14 days – from January 30 to February 12, 2022.

The National Capital Region (NCR) with 520 or 14%, Region 6 with 397 or 11%, and Region 11 with 328 or 9% had the most new cases in the last two weeks.

The DOH said recoveries climbed by 10,662 to 3,495,209, while 76 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 54,930.

The country’s COVID-19 positivity rate was at 14.3%, higher than the World Health Organization’s requirement target of less than 5% positivity rate. The total conducted COVID-19 tests were 32,067.

Based on the latest data, at least 36% of 3,900 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide were used.

Meanwhile, 29% of the 15,100 ward beds in the country were utilized, while 29% of the 4,200 ward beds in the National Capital Region (NCR) were in use.

The DOH said all laboratories were operational since February 10, though four of them failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.

The Health Department removed 61 duplicates were from the total case count. Of these, 50 were recoveries.
