A POLICE frontliner from Central Mindanao is the latest Philippine National Police fatality due to the Covid-19 virus raising the death toll in the police force to 128.
PNP Chief Police General Dionardo Carlos expressed his condolences to the bereaved family of the said police officer.
“Based on his medical records, said the cop was brought to a local hospital on February 1 due to abdominal pain and vomiting. On February 3, he tested negative on Covid-19 but became unresponsive and was immediately intubated,” Carlos said.
Meanwhile, on February 5, he underwent another RT-PCR test in preparation for the next dialysis session and yielded a positive result.
On February 7, said police officer succumbed due to Acute Respiratory Failure and Pneumonia.
Said police officer completed his Covid-19 vaccine on August 31, 2021, but is undergoing treatment for Diabetes Mellitus Type II.
As of February 11, the PNPHS recorded 68 recoveries among the infected personnel bringing the total recoveries to 48,249 while only 24 new cases were noted bringing the total cases to 48,700 with 323 active cases.
Further, the PNP has 219,412 or 97.57% fully vaccinated police personnel while 102,747 or 46.83% have received their booster shots.
Meanwhile, 4,647 are awaiting the second dose to complete the inoculation.
With this, there are only 816 or 0.36% of police personnel who have not been vaccinated.
