THE Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) filed a petition with the Supreme Court on Monday, June 23, 2025, demanding a manual recount of the senatorial votes from the 2025 midterm elections.
The petition, filed by Atty. Israelito Torreon and Atty. Jimmy Bondoc, alleges widespread irregularities during the May 12 elections, primarily citing the absence of manual counting at polling precincts. Atty. Bondoc clarified that the petition’s aim is not to claim any senatorial seats but to ensure compliance with election laws.
The petition details several alleged irregularities, including approximately 17 million overvotes and the disappearance of around 6 million ballots.
These claims raise serious concerns about the integrity of the electoral process and the accuracy of the official results. The PDP-Laban’s move to seek a manual recount represents a significant challenge to the official election outcome and highlights the party’s commitment to upholding the principles of fair and transparent elections.
The Supreme Court will now consider the petition and determine whether to proceed with a manual recount.
