PALACE Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro criticized Vice President Sara Duterte’s recent remarks encouraging Cebuanos to express anger towards the government.
In a Palace press briefing, Castro stated that such sentiments are inappropriate coming from the country’s second-highest official.
Castro expressed disappointment that Duterte appeared to be encouraging public anger, noting that President Marcos had no reaction because such remarks are unbefitting of her position. She suggested that Duterte should instead promote cooperation with the government rather than fostering ill feelings.
Castro emphasized the importance of national unity and progress, contrasting Duterte’s call for anger with the need for collaborative efforts to improve the lives of all Filipinos.
GMA News Online has attempted to obtain a response from VP Duterte regarding Castro’s criticism, but has yet to receive a reply. The statement comes after the House of Representatives initiated impeachment proceedings against Duterte, following her criticisms of the government’s handling of health, security, infrastructure, and foreign interference issues, and accusations of disloyalty among government officials.
