P35K minimum pay sa mga guro giit ng ACT partylist sa 19th Congress

SA kabila ng kabiguang makuha ang suporta ng 18th Congress sa panawagang itaas ang antas ng sahod sa hanay ng mga guro, desidido pa rin ang isang militanteng kongresista na mabibigyang katuparan na rin ang kanilang adyenda, kasunod ng paglagda ni outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte ng isang executive order na nagtatakda naman ng mekanismo sa promotion ng mga maestra.

“We welcome the expanded career progression system (Executive Order 174) for our public school teachers but this should not be a substitute for the demand to upgrade their salary grade from SG 11 to SG 15 and address the injustice to teachers,” ani Castro.

Sa ilalim ng umiiral na panuntunan, aabot lamang sa P25,439 ang katumbas ng salary grade 11 para sa entry level sa mga guro ng pampublikong paaralan.

Para kay Castro, lubhang mababa ang naturang halaga, kasabay ng giit na itaas sa salary grade 15 – katumbas ang P35,000 buwanang sahod para sa entry level ng mga public school teachers.

Paniwala ng kongresista, napag-iwanan na ang mga guro ng ibang propeysunal sa sa aspeto ng sweldo.

Tulad na lamang aniya ng mga nurse na SG15 agad pagsabak sa trabaho at mga pulis na tumatanggap ng P29,600 sa unang taon ng serbisyo. “Malaking inhustisya ito sa mga guro na may katulad na mga kwalipikasyon at may napakaraming trabaho na lampas pa sa kanilang mandato na magturo,” aniya.

Samantala, humihingi ng paglilinaw mula sa Department of Budget and management ang naturang mambabatas kung ilang item para sa master teacher at principals ang idaragdag sa ilalim ng huling EO ni Duterte.

“Baka naman may item nga, kakaunti naman kaya agawan lang rin ang mga teachers o kaya naman ay marami rin ang maiipit sa mababang posisyon,” dugtong pa ng lady solon.
