OMBUDSMAN Jesus Crispin Remulla addressed rumors of his hospitalization by appearing on his regular radio program on Saturday morning, assuring the public of his good health. The appearance followed social media posts claiming he had been rushed to the hospital.
“Exciting year, maraming mangyayari (many things will happen),” Remulla stated on dzRH, also hinting at a demanding workload for the Office of the Ombudsman in 2026.
Remulla’s public appearance serves to quell concerns that arose after unverified Facebook posts circulated, alleging a medical emergency. This is particularly significant given his past health challenges, which include undergoing quintuple bypass heart surgery in 2023 and a previous diagnosis of leukemia, from which he has since recovered.
The Ombudsman’s office had previously released a statement confirming that Remulla has been cancer-free for a year and a half, maintains a regular exercise routine, and remains committed to his duties.
The Office of the Ombudsman is currently involved in investigating complaints against high-ranking officials implicated in the flood control corruption controversy. While cases have been filed in court, the public awaits the findings concerning senators and members of the House of Representatives who have been linked to the alleged scheme.
