OFW Partylist launches campaign, gains local backing in Batangas, Cavite

admin February 13, 2025

AS the official campaign period commenced, the OFW Party List, led by Rep. Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino, launched its campaign with a series of visits across Batangas and Cavite on Tuesday (Feb. 11), meeting with local officials and Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) groups to rally support for its advocacy.

Celebrating her Batangueña roots, OFW Party List Rep. Magsino started her campaign in Lian, Batangas, where she paid a courtesy call on Mayor Joseph Peji and municipal councilors. She also met with department heads and members of the local farmers’ association. “Our OFWs are the backbone of our economy, and while they toil abroad, we must ensure their families here at home are also supported,” Magsino said.

In Nasugbu, she was welcomed by Mayor Tony Barcelon and his council before proceeding to Balayan for another courtesy visit with local officials.

In the afternoon, Rep. Magsino met with OFW family groups from Agoncillo, Calatagan, Balayan, Tuy, and Lemery at the Liga ng mga Barangay Office in Balayan Government Center.

“It is heartwarming to see the strong support of OFW families to our advocacy. Sumusuporta sila sa atin dahil nararamdaman nila ang ating mga programa at sinserong pagmamahal sa ating mga OFWs. Being with them remind us why we continue to fight for policies that protect our migrant workers,” she said. The groups expressed their backing for the OFW Party List’s initiatives, which focus on reintegration programs, financial assistance, and labor protections.

The campaign sortie concluded in General Emilio Aguinaldo, Cavite, where Rep. Magsino attended a multi-sectoral meeting at the OFW Multi-Purpose Building. The presidents of sectoral groups pledged their support for the OFW Party List’s programs. “We stand with Rep. Magsino and her advocacy for OFWs. Our OFWs’ protection and welfare are national concerns that we must strive to promote, and we need leaders who genuinely prioritize them,” Glean stated.

For her part, Rep. Magsino reaffirmed her commitment saying: “This campaign is not just about winning a seat, it’s about giving OFWs a stronger voice in government.”
