NEWLY appointed Acting Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez has downplayed the prospect of immediate personnel changes, prioritizing a comprehensive performance audit of existing officials instead.
In response to questions regarding potential courtesy resignations from PCO personnel appointed by previous secretaries, Gomez stated that there are currently no such plans.
He emphasized his commitment to conducting a thorough, unbiased review to ensure fairness to all employees.
This approach contrasts with previous transitions within the PCO, which have often been marked by more immediate personnel shifts.
Gomez’s decision to focus on a performance audit before making any decisions about personnel reflects a deliberate strategy to assess the current state of the PCO before implementing any changes.
He highlighted the urgency of the review process, indicating that it has already begun and will involve individual meetings with department heads.
This methodical approach, while potentially time-consuming, aims to provide a more informed basis for any future restructuring or personnel adjustments. Gomez’s appointment as the fifth PCO secretary in just over half of President Marcos Jr.’s term, a position described as a “revolving door,” has not deterred him, emphasizing his focus on fulfilling his duties and effectively serving the President.
