PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. has granted executive clemency to former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog, Malacañang confirmed.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin cited Mabilog’s commitment to good governance and Iloilo City’s achievements under his leadership as reasons for the pardon, which relates to a 2017 Ombudsman decision finding Mabilog guilty of serious dishonesty.
The pardon removes penalties from that case, allowing Mabilog to potentially seek public office again. However, separate graft charges filed in 2023 against Mabilog and Councilor Plaridel Nava II remain before the Sandiganbayan.
