admin July 15, 2025

PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has approved the proposed ₱6.793 trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP) for Fiscal Year 2026.

The announcement was made by Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro during a press briefing on Tuesday.

The NEP outlines the government’s spending plan for the coming fiscal year, encompassing various programs and projects across different sectors.

This significant budget allocation reflects the administration’s priorities and its commitment to implementing key initiatives aimed at economic growth, social development, and infrastructure improvement. Further details regarding the specific allocations within the NEP are expected to be released in the coming days.

The approval of the ₱6.793 trillion NEP marks a crucial step in the government’s budgetary process. The budget will now proceed to Congress for review and deliberation.

Lawmakers will scrutinize the proposed allocations, potentially making adjustments before final approval. The NEP’s passage through Congress is essential for the timely implementation of government programs and projects in 2026.

The budget’s approval is a key factor influencing the country’s economic trajectory and its ability to address pressing social and economic challenges.

The proposed NEP for FY 2026 is expected to address various national priorities. It is likely to include significant allocations for infrastructure development, social protection programs, education, and healthcare.

The budget will also likely reflect the government’s commitment to sustainable development and its efforts to address climate change.

The administration’s focus on economic recovery and inclusive growth will also be reflected in the allocation of resources across different sectors. The detailed breakdown of the NEP will provide a clearer picture of the government’s spending priorities for the coming year.
