IN addition to the salary increase for government workers, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. also announced his approval of providing medical allowance for over one million government employees in the country.
“Para naman sa ating mga kawani ng gobyerno, mayroon silang maaasahang medical allowance bilang karagdagang benepisyo sa susunod na taon,” the President revealed during his third State of the Nation Address.
Starting in 2025, government workers will each receive a medical allowance as a subsidy for the availment of Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) benefits or HMO-type benefits.
The medical allowance can be used for various medical services, helping public employees be prepared for any health-related emergencies.
For its implementation, a total of ₱9.5 billion has been allocated under the Miscellaneous Personnel Benefits Fund (MBPF) for 2025.
This covers employees under National Government Agencies, State Universities and Colleges, and Government-owned or -controlled Corporations of the Executive Department.
“As you know, health care is a top priority of this administration. Sa pamamagitan po ng pagbibigay ng medical allowance sa ating mga lingkod-bayan, matutulungan po natin silang maibsan ang kanilang medical expenses kung kinakailangan, at masigurong napangangalagaan ang kanilang kalusugan,” said DBM Secretary Amenah “Mina” F. Pangandaman.
This medical allowance is seen as a subsidy or aid to make access to better medical services or benefits more affordable for government employees.
