PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has formally accepted the resignation of Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Senior Undersecretary Ana Puod, Malacañang announced on Friday.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed the acceptance during a press conference, offering no further details beyond the simple statement, “Ms. Ana Puod’s resignation has been accepted.”
This confirmation follows previous reports of significant changes within the PCO, including Puod’s departure, initially described as “voluntary” due to personal reasons. However, Puod herself attributed her resignation to “untenable conditions” within the PCO’s current leadership.
Puod’s resignation letter, submitted last month, expressed gratitude to President Marcos for the opportunity to serve and highlighted her appreciation for his leadership. Her departure follows the submission of courtesy resignations from at least 17 other PCO officials, all of which have been accepted by the President.
This wave of resignations is part of President Marcos’ broader initiative to reorganize his administration, a move initiated earlier with a call for courtesy resignations from all government agency heads.
While the specific reasons behind Puod’s resignation remain somewhat unclear, the overall context suggests a significant reshuffling within the PCO and the administration as a whole.
