Marcos: 20% of P545B flood control budget awarded to just 15 firms

admin August 11, 2025

PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. expressed serious concerns Monday over the concentration of flood control project contracts, revealing that 20% of the total P545 billion budget has been awarded to just 15 contractors.

During a press conference launching a website detailing flood control projects, President Marcos highlighted this disparity, stating, “This is another disturbing assessment, statistic: 20% of the entire P545 billion budget went to only 15 contractors. Five of these 15 contractors have contracts across the entire Philippines.”

The President identified the 15 contractors as: Legacy Construction Corporation, Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corp., St. Timothy Construction Corporation, QM Builders, EGB Construction Corporation, Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc., Centerways Construction and Development Inc., Sunwest, Inc., Hi-Tone Construction & Development Corp., Triple 8 Construction & Supply, Inc., Royal Crown Monarch Construction & Supplies Corp., Wawao Builders, MG Samidan Construction, L.R. Tiqui Builders, Inc., and Road Edge Trading & Development Services. He specifically noted that Legacy Construction Corporation, Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corp., St. Timothy Construction Corporation, EGB Construction Corporation, and Road Edge Trading & Development Services hold projects in nearly all regions of the country.

President Marcos acknowledged ongoing investigations into potential links between these contractors and government officials. “We will still go through every single one,” he stated, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability. This announcement follows his previous State of the Nation Address, where he vowed to hold accountable those involved in any irregularities related to flood control projects.

The President’s disclosure underscores the need for a thorough review of the procurement process and a commitment to ensuring fair and equitable distribution of funds for vital infrastructure projects. The public awaits the results of the ongoing investigation and further details on the government’s plans to address these concerns.
