ROMBLON Rep. Eleandro Jesus “Budoy” Madrona of the Nacionalista Party (NP)
ROMBLON Rep. Eleandro Jesus “Budoy” Madrona of the Nacionalista Party (NP) on Sunday thrown his full support behind the reelection of Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez as Speaker of the House of Representatives for the 20th Congress, citing the latter’s dependable leadership, institutional integrity, and unwavering commitment to the Filipino people.
“Suportado natin ang lideratong subok at maaasahan. Speaker Martin has always shown steady, inclusive, and responsive leadership. He led the House during some of the most critical moments of the 19th Congress and consistently proved that his guiding principle is simple: support what is good for the country, protect the institution, and always prioritize the people’s welfare,” Madrona said.
A stalwart of the NP, Madrona said Rep. Romualdez has earned the trust and confidence of lawmakers across parties by fostering unity in the chamber, advancing important legislation, and working constructively with the Marcos administration—without compromising the House’s independence.
“Under his speakership, the House passed landmark legislation and maintained a very productive working relationship with the Executive Branch, all while staying true to our constitutional mandate. That kind of leadership is both rare and essential,” Madrona added.
Madrona emphasized that with urgent legislative work on the national budget, agriculture, education reform, and economic recovery ahead, Congress needs a tested and trusted leader at the helm.
“At this critical juncture, we cannot afford uncertainty or experimentation. We need continuity, competence, and clarity of vision—and Speaker Martin embodies all three,” Madrona said.
He called on fellow lawmakers to rally behind Rep. Romualdez’s bid with has now the support of 293 lawmakers to continue leading the House into the second half of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s term, noting that the chamber’s ability to deliver results for the people depends on strong and steady leadership.
“I fully support Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez. He is the right leader for the job, and the 20th Congress will be in good hands under his continued stewardship,” Madrona concluded.
