LAND Transportation Chief Teofilo Guadiz III announced that the agency will target at least 90% of license plate backlogs before the end of 2023.
Guadiz said that the agency will use its own plate manufacturing plant to generate the some of the backlog plates before the end of this year.
“Para naman sa mga plakang hindi matatapos magawa ngayong taon, plano ng ahensya na kumuha ng serbisyo ng pribadong kumpanya upang pursigihing makumpleto ang kahit 90-porsyento ng backlog pagsapit ng Disyembre ng susunod na taon,” he stated.
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has already approved the ₱4.7B fund to finance the backlogs in plate although the agency requested for a total amount of ₱6.83B.
Guadiz added that they are still hopeful that congress will provide the funds needed to address the concern.
