KINONTRA ni Speaker Martin Romualdez ngayong Huwebes ang mga espekulasyon na binibigyang prayoridad ng Kamara ang resolusyon na umuudyok kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., na makiisa sa imbestigasyon ng International Criminal Court (ICC) sa mga pagpatay sa ilalim ni dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na war on drugs.
“This is what we call, this is the sense of the House of Representatives. There were succession of resolutions that are being filed… as a matter of course, we have to read out these bills and resolutions and we have to act on the same and we have to be sensitive, to be responsive sa mga hinaing ng ating mga kongresista (to the concerns of our members),” ayon kay Romualdez sa press conference sa ginanap na 31st Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF).
“We have to look at it one at a time and within the … context of the current events and that’s where we leave it. We don’t read much more into it than what other people do but nonetheless they are still entitled to their own views and even their speculations but we leave it at that,” dagdag pa nito.
Sinabi ni Romualdez na kung anumang ang desisyon ng kapulungan sa resolusyon, ito umano ay sumasalamin sa sentimyento ng mga miyembro.
“We just do it as a matter of course, but come what may, whatever outcome would be [is] what we call the sense of the House of Representatives on whatever it decides by a manner of vote,” ayon sa Speaker.
Kamakailan ay naghain si House committee on human rights chairperson Bienvenido “Benny” Abante Jr. ng Maynila,, ng House Resolution 1477, na nagsasabing kahit pa kumalas na ang gobyerno ng Pilipinas sa ICC noong Marso 2019, nanatiling batid ng ICC at Supreme Court na mayroong huridiksyon ang ICC sa umano’y mga krimen laban sa tao na naganapsa Pilipinas.
Sa naturan ding press conference, binalewala ni Romualdez ang alegasyon ni dating presidential spokesperson Harry Roque na may basbas na ang Speaker para isampa ang House resolution sa imbestigasyon ng ICC at ang umano’y impeachment plot laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
“Our good friend, former secretary Harry Roque must have thoughts, these ideas. We respect his thoughts and his ideas, but they are not accurate. So, I’ll just put it to that. There’s nothing to it. All speculations, but none of that is true,” sabi pa ni Romualdez.
Nauna nang tinanggal ng Kamara ang confidential at intelligence funds ng ilang sibilyan na ahensiya sa ilalim ng 2024 proposed national budget kabilang na ang sa Office of the Vice President at Department of Education na kapwa nasa ilalim ng pangangasiwa ni Vice President Duterte.
Dahil dito, sumaklolo si dating pangulong Durtete, at binatikos ang Kamara sa pagsabing ito ang pinakabulok na institusyon sa bansa, kasama na ang mga miyembro nito na umano’y nagpapayaman sa pamamagitan ng pork barrel,
Nagbanta rin ang matandang Duterte na tatakbo sa pagkabise president o senators sakaling mapatalik sa posisyon ang kanyang anak.
