THE The House of Representatives celebrated Valentine’s Day on Tuesday with activities promoting the health and wellbeing of House members and the HRep workforce.
The House in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) organized the blood donation drive “Handog ng Kongreso Para sa Puso” on February 13 and 14 at the North Lobby. The donation drive is a joint undertaking of the Office of Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Office of Sergeant-at-Arms MGen. Napoleon Taas (Ret.), the Legislative Security Bureau, and the Medical and Dental Service (MDS) under Director Dr. Luis Bautista.
The House also launched on Valentine’s Day the “Happy, Healthy Heart Program Blood Pressure Monitoring,” a joint activity of the MDS and the Administrative Department under Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Ramon Ricardo Roque, CESO I, Diplomate.
Regular blood pressure monitoring, according to the organizers, helps in the early diagnosis of high blood pressure, adding that early diagnosis “is especially important for people with elevated blood pressure or another condition that could contribute to high blood pressure, such as diabetes or kidney problems.”
People at the HRep grounds can avail of the blood pressure monitoring service from 8am to 3:30pm from Tuesday to Thursday at the North Wing, South Wing, and South Wing Annex.
On Thursday, February 16, the MDS and Administrative Department will be providing free pneumonia vaccination shots, to be administered at the North Steel Parking from 9am to 4pm. Those interested should contact MDS Nurse La Tarucan.
The Association of Women Legislators Foundation, Inc., (AWLFI) collaborated with Anna York Flowers for a fundraising activity. Part of the proceeds from the sale of Ecuadorian roses from Anna York Flowers at the North Lobby will go to AWFLI projects.
