SENATOR Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go reiterated his call to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the Department of Health (DOH) to prioritize the release of health emergency allowances to healthcare professionals.
During the continuation of the public hearing of the Committee on Health and Demography on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, Go pointed out that health workers should be given what is due to them for their services and sacrifices during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Go insisted that the DBM and DOH should make the release of health emergency allowances their top priority and must not further delay its release. “That is not your (DBM, DOH) money. It is the money of our countrymen,” Go said.
The Senate panel also tackled proposed measures that seek to establish, upgrade, convert, and rename public hospitals in various parts of the country, as well as the implementation of the Health Facility Development Plan 2020-2040, the Universal Health Care Act, the Malasakit Centers Act, and the PhilHealth Konsulta Program.
