FORMER DPWH MIMAROPA Regional Director Gerald Pacanan appeared before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee today, January 19, to answer questions related to ongoing investigations.
During the hearing, Pacanan’s decision to cover his face was questioned, given that he was not a witness in the proceedings. Senators inquired about the reasons behind his attempt to conceal his identity, raising concerns about transparency and accountability.
In response, Pacanan explained that his case is still “pending” before the Sandiganbayan (anti-graft court), and no final judgment has been rendered against him. He also expressed concerns about his personal security, suggesting that he felt vulnerable and potentially at risk.
