THE Philippine National Police (PNP) reported delays at several polling centers during the start of the regular voting hours for the Eleksyon 2025 on Monday.
According to PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo, only 34,494 (91.92%) of polling centers were able to commence voting on schedule.
The delays were attributed to technical glitches and power interruptions, Fajardo stated. These issues were primarily reported in Central Luzon, Northern Mindanao, Cordillera Administrative Region, Davao Region, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) had scheduled early voting hours from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and pregnant women.
Regular voting hours were set from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. While the early voting period proceeded without major incident, the reported technical issues impacted the timely commencement of regular voting in several areas.
The PNP is working with the Comelec to address the reported problems and ensure the smooth continuation of the voting process. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
