DESPITE the Discayas’ announcement that they will no longer cooperate with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), the Department of Justice (DOJ) says it has received no indication that they will refuse to coordinate with the department in their application for witness protection.
Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon stated that the DOJ was surprised by the Discayas’ decision but that they have not indicated any intention to stop cooperating with the department.
He emphasized that the couple is not in a position to make demands as they are applying for witness protection, and the DOJ will follow its own procedures in determining their eligibility.
The DOJ’s statement underscores the Discayas’ limited leverage in their application for witness protection, as they must comply with the department’s requirements and procedures to be considered for the program.
