INTERIOR and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla has clarified that Interpol has not issued a red notice for Senator Bato dela Rosa, despite recent reports that the International Criminal Court (ICC) had supposedly issued a warrant for his arrest.
The clarification comes amid swirling speculation surrounding Dela Rosa’s alleged involvement in the previous administration’s war on drugs.
Secretary Remulla said that while reports of an ICC warrant have surfaced, Interpol has not taken any action to request Dela Rosa’s provisional arrest for extradition. A red notice is a request by Interpol to law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest an individual pending extradition, but it is not, in itself, an international arrest warrant. The absence of a red notice suggests that, as of now, there is no international directive for law enforcement to apprehend Senator Dela Rosa.
