Comelec steps up ballot printing after delays, aims for 1.5M daily

admin January 24, 2025

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) is accelerating ballot printing for the May 12, 2025, elections, aiming to produce 1.5 million ballots daily.

The increased production is necessary to compensate for delays caused by Supreme Court TROs. The delays resulted in approximately six million unusable ballots, costing P132 million. Despite this, the Comelec maintains the election will proceed as scheduled. Printing will prioritize mock elections, overseas voting, and several key regions.

Choose the option that best suits your publication’s style and desired emphasis. Option 1 provides a comprehensive overview, Option 2 highlights the financial impact of the delays, and Option 3 offers a more concise summary.
